Prof. Dr. Muhammad Z Mamun did his Bachelor in Civil Engineering (Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Dhaka), Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Management Science (American University of Beirut), MBA in General Management (Institute of Business Administration, Dhaka), and Ph.D. in Urban Development Management (Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok) is a Post-doctoral Fellow of Urban Environmental Management Program of the Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok. 

With more than 35 years of teaching and research experience both at home and abroad he has specialization in the areas of risk, disaster, technology, quality, and operations management. He has authored four books, edited one book, and contributed in 11 book sections. Dr. Mamun has over 160 publications (81 journal articles and 81 conference papers), in both national and international journals and proceedings in planning and management related areas. Dr. Mamun is awarded two times (2013 and 2017) the most prestigious “UGC Award” for his academic excellence in the area of Economics and Business Studies. He is also three times the winner of the most esteemed “University of Dhaka Ibrahim Memorial Gold medal” for his outstanding academic and research work.

His professional achievements include Director, Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Editor, Journal of Business Administration, IBA; Visiting Scholar at the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, China; Visiting Scholar at the Meiji University, Tokyo, Japan; Vice-President (Programs), Secretary and Member, Board of Governors, Asia-Pacific Risk and Insurance Association (APRIA), Singapore; Member, Board of Directors, the International Academy of Financial Consumers (IAFICO), South Korea, etc. He attended over 70 international scholarly conferences and seminars and presented papers in different parts of the world. He attended 10 workshops and also coordinated over 22 national and international management and planning related workshops. Dr. Mamun is a Fellow of the International Center for Asian Studies, Hong Kong, Computer Society of Bangladesh, and the Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh. He travels widely (over 25 countries) and has excellent proficiency in English and moderate hold of French.
